TERRATITE
(page 2)
DESCRIPTION/USE
Terra
Tite is a brushable terracotta coloured elastomeric water borme modiified
acrylic waterproofing membrane. It has been specially formulated as a single
pack, environmentally friendly memb rane suitable for both interior and
exterior conditions. Terra Tite is also suitable for permanent immersion
in water.
PREPARATION
The
surface should preferably be dry, it may be slightly damp but must not
be wet. All traces of dirt, oil, dust, grease, rust, loose or flaking paint
should be removed from the surface befor applying Terra Tite. It is highly
recommended to use Bondall Substrate surface conditioner prior to application
of Terra Tite, particulary when coating highly porous substrates such as:
limestone, sandstone, insulation blocks, foamed concrete,Besser and HEBEL
blocks
SUITABLE
SURFACES: Uses for Terra Tite include waterproofing wet areas within buildings
such as shower recesses, bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Terra Tite
accommodates for moderate cracking of the substrate.
Terra
Tite is suitable for concrete slabs and decks for terraces and balconies
prior
to being covered with tiles, slate, marble or other toppings.
Terra
Tite can be applied to planter boxes, terracotta pots, non-potable water
tanks, fish ponds, roofs and retaining walls.
Allow
fresh concrete and rendered surfaces to fully cure before coating
(
typically 4-6 weeks).
Terra
Tite can be used not only for waterproofing applications but also as a
permament tile adhesive, gutter repairs etc.
It
is not suitable for used over Silasec treated surfaces or Bondcrete sealed
surfaces.
In
pond situations, it is recommended that plastic film is used underneath
concrete to prevent continuous absorption from the ground, otherwise the
coating may not dry adequately.
APPLICATION
Brush
on application, can be trowelled or spread on to surface. Work on small
areas at a time and finish well as you coat. Apply second coat at right
angles to the first coat for a smoother finish and to remove pinholes.
Do not apply when below 10 C or above 85% Relative Humidity or when rain
is forecast within four hours, otherwise coating may be washed off. When
coating on hot substrateseg. Above 30 C, it is preferable to cool the surface
with water mist spray and coat whilst surface is dry or damp, but not wet.
Protect coated surface from rain with tarp and provide plenty of ventilation.
THINNING
If
substrate is highly porouseg: limestone, sandstone, insulation blocks the
surface should be primed with Terra Tite diluted with 10% water and primer
coat allowed to dry for hoursDRYING
Allow
to dry about 24 hours between coats. Allow last coat to dry 7 days or longer
before continuos immersion in water. Allow extra drying time if conditions
are cold, damp or humid.COVERAGE
Do
not exceed 1.5 square metres per litres per coat. A minimum of 2 undiluted
equal coats is required. Calculate surface area accurately. 4 litres covers
3 square metres at correct thickness.
Volume
required (litres) = Area (sq.m) * 4/3
Use
up all required material regardless of number of coats.

UP
Easy
clean up in hot or cold water immediately after application using a stiff
bristle or wire brush. Turps may be soften hardened material on eqipment.
Do not pour contents or washings down sinks or drains.
FILLING
OF PONDS
Leave
to dry 7 days or longer in cooler, humid conditions befor filling and rinsing
pond. Fill pond with clean water and leave for 1-2 days. Empty pond and
refill with fresh water. Prior to introducing fish perform tests for correct
bacteria levels, pH, kH, ammonium, nitrate, phosphateion, chlorine, excess
metals. To achieve desired level treat as necessary.
GAPS
AND CRACKS
Bondall
Terra Tite is not a filler. Any holes or cracks in the surface should be
filled with polyurethane mastic, polyester filler ( eg. Car body putty
) according to manufacturers' directions or fine sand: cement mortar (
3:1 pbr ) worked into the area. A bondbreaker is required to accommodate
substrate movement eg. Corner. First generously coat about 75mm wide each
side of the gap and embed Bondalls' Polyweave reinforcing fabric into the
Terra Tite. Follow by a fully saturated coat and allow to dry. Once dry,
additional coats may be required to ensure the entire Polyweave fabric
is covered without pinholes.

is recommended that normal personal protective clothing should be worn,
including coveralls, impervious gloves and goggles. Avoid unnecessary skin
contact and inhalation - use a suitable respirator if spray application
is employed.
Should
