PAVING SEALER (page 2)
DESCRIPTION/USE
Clear
Paving Sealer is a hard wearing all acrylic clear finish for coating clay
or concrete pavers, concrete floors, natural stone surfaces, unglazed tiles
and slate. It will provide excellent protection from staining and soiling
and it is trafficable. Clear Paving Sealer will dust proof, stabilise and
enhance the natural colour of the substrate. It is suitable for interior
and exterior applications.
Always
test the product on a small inconspicuous area first to ensure the product
is achieving the desired result prior to application over the entire area.

PREPARATION
Surface
preparation is important. It is advisable to allow a minimum of six weeks
exposure before sealing onto any newly laid surface. Areas affected by
efflorescence, grease, mould or bore stain should be treated with the appropriate
Bondall cleaning product. Ensure all surfaces to be sealed with Clear Paving
Sealer are clean, dry, free from dust and other contaminants. Any stains
present will become more apparent once sealed.
It
is important that surfaces that are cleaned with high pressure water jets
or are saturated with water are left for a few days to dry before sealing.
Allow
all concrete surfaces to cure. Typically 7 days for each 25mm thickness.
Generally concrete takes 28 days to cure to 90% of full strength.
APPLICATION
Stir
well before and during use. DO NOT SHAKE the contents, as shaking will
produce bubbles, which may become trapped on the surface.
Apply
one coat direct from the container by brush, roller or spray. Allow to
dry for 24 hours before applying the second coat.
Apply
evenly and take care not to over apply on pitted surfaces as ponding of
product may occur. Proper penetration of the first coat is very important.
On
low porosity surfaces such as reconstituted limestone products only one
coat may be necessary. Should only one coat be applied, check for beading
of water to indicate the coating is effective.
Do
not apply if temperature is below 10°C or above 35°C or if rain
is expected within 48 hours, as this could lead to whitening of the coating.
Ensure
adequate ventilation during use.
PLEASE
NOTE Apply enough coats so the entire area beads. Carry out Splash Test.
THINNING
May
be required on dense surfaces.
No
more than 10-15% of water by volume.
DRYING
Clear
Paving Sealer is touch dry in approximately 1-2 hours at 25° C, but
should be left a minimum of 24 hours before re-coating.
Drying
times are a guide only. Longer drying times may be required under cooler
or humid conditions.
Allow
to dry for 48 hours before allowing heavy traffic on the surface.
COVERAGE
Approximately
5 square metres per litre on porous surfaces and approximately 10-12 square
metres per litre on dense surfaces. Coverage rates are dependent on surface
porosity, texture and application technique used.
COLOUR
White
appearance in container but dries clear. Warm conditions are preferable
since in cold or humid conditions, a slight milkiness may occur due to
incomplete drying or trapped solvents.
GLOSS
LEVEL
Slight
sheen noticeable but will vary from substrate to substrate. Over application
will result in the surface becoming glossy or milkiness due to trapped
solvents.
CLEAN
UP
Clean
all equipment promptly with warm water and a little detergent followed
by a fresh water rinse.
Do
not pour contents or washing down drains or sinks.
SIZES
Available
in 2, 5, 10, 20, 200 litre containers and larger sizes available upon request.
PRECAUTIONS/FIRST
AID
It
is recommended that normal personal protective clothing should be worn,
including coveralls, impervious gloves and goggles. Avoid unnecessary skin
contact and inhalation – use a suitable respirator if spray application
is employed. Refer to MSDS for full details.
If
swallowed, contact a doctor. Give water to drink and do not induce vomiting.
