PREPERATION
Surface
preparation is critical and must be strictly observed. Surfaces must be
free from grease, grime, dust, dirt, moss, lichen, loose and flaking paint
and surface oxidation.
Note:
If the roof is used for the collection of rainwater disconnect the pipe
to the storage unit befor preparation begins and leave disconnected until
after the first substantial rainfall following the application of wapol
CFA Roof Coat System.
MOSS
AND LICHENS:
Moss
and lichen growing on Asbestos-cement or tiled roofs usually appear grey
green-green, orange or black and must be treated prior to applying any
Wapol Roof Coat System. On tiled roofs and masontry, moss and lichen cleaning
is necessary to avoid adhesion problems and to ensure an aesthetic appearance.
Apply (by brus, swab or gerntle spray) Wapol FW 5 Fungicidal Wash to the
entire surface to be treatered, not just to visible areas as allowed to
remain on the surface for at least 24 hours. After that time all debris
should be removed by means of a high-pressures water jet (except in the
case of asbestos surfaces where only simple hosing is permitted). The cleaned
surface should then be treated with another application of Wapol jet (
except in the case of asbestos surfaces where only simple hosing is permitted
).
The
cleaned surface should then be treated with another application of Wapol
FW 5 Fungicide 1:2 parts water. This should be allowed to dry completely
before commencement of painting to ensure that any remaining spores are
killed.
